Air Serbia Flight to Moscow Turns Back Over Security Screening Issue

An Air Serbia aircraft operating a flight from Belgrade, Serbia, to Moscow was forced to turn back mid-flight following allegations that a passenger had boarded without undergoing the required security screening.

Flight JU134 departed Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport on the evening of Tuesday, November 3, but was diverted back to Belgrade after reaching southern Lithuania. According to Serbian media reports, former Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin was allegedly found to have boarded the aircraft without passing through security screening. Airport authorities reportedly instructed the aircraft to return as a result.

Air Serbia confirmed that additional security screening was required for a passenger but did not disclose the individual’s identity. Following the aircraft’s return to Belgrade, approximately 150 passengers and their baggage underwent security checks again. Vulin denied the allegations, claiming that the incident was politically motivated.

After the inspections were completed, the aircraft departed again and arrived in Moscow on the morning of November 4, approximately seven hours behind schedule.
